All-In Dashboard for Getting Things Done(tm).

We have uploaded a updated GTD® Dashboard template to Biggerplate.  This dashboard map is based on the Getting Things Done (GTD) approach developed by David Allen (www.davidco.com).

This map is designed to be a one-stop-shop for your GTD implementation. It is designed for Mindjet® MindManager® 14 and makes use of Markers and the Index capability to provide a simple but effective self contained GTD list manager.

GTD and Getting Things Done are registered trademarks of David Allen & Co.. Mindjet and MindManager are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Mindjet, LLC in the United States and/or other countries.

MindManager add-ins evolution

Everything has to come to an end. Whilst it was not an easy decision, it was inevitable. We will no longer be updating our add-ins for Mindjet® MindManager.

As of now, our add-ins are fully integrated with MindManager® v6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 (2012). Whilst the add-ins will remain available for the foreseeable future, we won't be supporting Mindjet® for Windows v11, MindManager® v14 or any future version.

Our focus is still to provide tools and techniques to help you make optimal use of your most precious resource - "Time".

Meeting Minutes and Green Vegetables

What do Meeting Minutes and Green Vegetables have in common?

An analogy occurred to me whilst participating in an "effective meetings" program. One of the recommendations given at the end of the exercise was that we need to produce minutes for all meetings. It occurred to me that this is like telling a child they must eat their green vegetables. Yes, we all know they are good for us, but that doesn't make them any easier to take. As you may know, the key to getting the vegetables off the plate is to make it fun. That is where CAAP enters the picture. CAAP is an integrated add-in for Microsoft® Outlook® for taking and publishing meeting minutes. I wouldn't go so far as suggest CAAP makes taking minutes fun, but CAAP definitely makes taking minutes less of a chore.

I am looking for Beta testers to help shape this tool. You can learn more and download the tool here: http://tpassist.com/caap.

We are inviting beta testers of our latest software tool. If you are using Microsoft® Outlook® to organise and manage meetings, this tool will save you time. You can find out more, watch a video and download the add-in via our website: http://tpassist.com/caap.

MindManager add-ins Update

Whilst we are doing our best and are in contact with Mindjet®, unfortunately, we have not been able to get TPAssist 2007 or TPAssist Capture working correctly with the latest and previous versions of MindManager® (aka Mindjet® for Windows v11 or MindManager® v14). The add-ins still integrates fully with MindManager® v6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Known Issues - TPAssist 2007 v1.8.7 installer with Mindjet for Windows (v11.1.353)

There is an issue with the installer with Mindjet for Windows (v11.1.353).  After installing TPAssist and launching Mindjet for Windows, you will get an error suggesting the Add-in can't be loaded.  The same error occurs if in MindManager, you go to the File Menu, choose Options, then select the Add-Ins tab, and then check “TPAssist Add-in for Mindjet for Windows”, click Ok.

We are working to try and isolate the cause of the issue.

For now, the best advise we can give is to down grade your version of MindManager (i.e. version 10) and re-install TPAssist add-ins.

Known Issues - TPAssist 2007 v1.8.7 installer with Mindjet for Windows (v11.0.272)

There is a known issue with the installer for TPAssist 2007 v1.8.7 when using Mindjet for Windows (v11.0.272).

There is an issue with the installer when you choose to enable Excel and MS Project, but not Outlook.  After installing TPAssist and launching Mindjet for Windows, you will get an error suggesting the Add-in can't be loaded.

The workaround:
The fix (for now), is to uninstall TPAssist 2007 and then re-install TPAssist 2007, and enable the "Outlook" option.

After re-installing, you’ll need to re-enable the adding in MindManager.  To do this, in MindManager, go to the File Menu, choose Options, then select the Add-Ins tab, and then check “TPAssist Add-in for Mindjet for Windows”, click Ok.

Note: If you don’t have Outlook installed, you will receive an error if you try to use any of the Outlook integration.  But at least you will have access to the other pieces of functionality.

We are working a few minor features updates and we will fix the installer with the next update.

Known Issues - Mindjet for Windows (v11.0.272)

TPAssist has been updated for the latest Mindjet update (v11.0.272). There is one new issue we are working on and we still have the issues identified in v10.1.459 (See here).

There are known issues with TPAssist 2007 v1.8.7 and Mindjet for Windows (v11.0.272).

  • Accessing the "TPAssist Options" prevents MindManager.EXE from closing. If you access the "TPAssist Options" dialog, close it and then exit Mindjet for Windows, the EXE stays running in the background. Opening Mindjet again, and then closing Mindjet causes an exception error. The only work-around at present is as follows: after closing Mindjet, use Task Manager to terminate MindManager.EXE.

Note: This issue has also been seen with TPAssist Capture v1.3.6.

Known Issues - MindManager 2012 (10.1.459)

There are known issues with TPAssist 2007 v1.8.6 (and earlier) and MindManager 2012 Service Pack 1 (version 10.1.459).

  • When "Effort" is enabled (MindManager Options, Task Info, "Show Effort Field"), the TPAssist Journal command isn't able to correctly modify "Duration". This issue is being worked on. For now, it is advised not to enable "Effort" when you have MindManager 2012 Service Pack 1 (version 10.1.459) and TPAssist 2007 v1.8.6 or earlier.
  • Quicklink Rebuild and other hyperlink handling aspects of TPAssist 2007 fail when you use earlier versions of MindManager to open maps created or modified with MindManager 2012 Service Pack 1 (version 10.1.459). When TPAssist fails, you will get an ugly error message about "EffortReadOnly" and "missing in schema". This issue is being worked on. For now, it is advised not to run different versions of MindManager, i.e. choose your timing and upgrade all your machines to MindManager 2012 Service Pack 1 (version 10.1.459).

Known Issue - MindManager 2012

There is a known issue with TPAssist 2007 v1.8.5 and MindManager 2012.

When editing task information using the Journal Tab of the TPAssist Console, changes made to Duration are not reflected on the topic when you click apply.

The issue is being worked on. For now, it would be wise to make Duration related changes with the MindManager task tab.

UPDATE: Nov 8, 2011 - TPAssist 2007 v1.8.6 resolves this issue.
